Melanin is the pigment that gives your skin its colour. It’s actually a good thing. It helps protect your skin by absorbing and scattering UV rays and fighting free-radical damage. The problem is when your skin starts producing too much pigment in certain areas, leaving you with dark spots and an uneven skin tone.
So, where does tyrosinase come in?
Tyrosinase is basically the switch that gets pigment production going. It works inside melanocytes, the skin cells that make melanin.
More tyrosinase activity = more melanin = more pigmentation.

Who can use this skincare regime?
Almost everyone can enjoy this routine! It suits all skin types — pigmented, dry, sensitive, and acne-prone — and is thoughtfully formulated with gentle ingredients that support easily irritated skin while helping reveal a smoother, more even-looking complexion. The one exception: it's best to skip this routine during pregnancy, as Vitamin A (Retinal) is not advisable for pregnant women or while trying to conceive.
Is this kit safe for use during pregnancy?
While Enlighten Gold is generally safe, Ultimate A Gold contains Retinal (Vitamin A), which is not recommended for use during pregnancy or trying to conceive.
I have very sensitive skin; will these products irritate me?
Unlike traditional Retinol which can be harsh, our Retinal is 11x more effective yet significantly gentler on the skin barrier. Combined with the soothing Niacinamide in both products and the bonus Hydraboost serum, this kit is formulated specifically to be well-tolerated by sensitive skin types.

What is Retinal and how is it different to Retinol?
Retinal (Retinaldehyde) is the more effective and gentle form of Vitamin A. It works faster and more effectively than Retinol, and all without the irritation! Because Retinal has fewer steps to convert into the active form of Vitamin A in the skin, it is used a lower concentrations than Retinol, so while it is more effective it is also very well tolerated.
Why is 4NB better than other ingredients like hydroquinone?
4nB (4-n-butylresorcinol) is a smarter alternative to hydroquinone. While hydroquinone can bleach the skin and often causes irritation, redness, and even rebound pigmentation with long-term use, 4nB is one of the most potent tyrosinase inhibitors available, meaning it targets the enzyme responsible for creating dark spots at the source. The result is effective, visible fading of pigmentation without the harsh side effects.
Does Ultimate A Gold stain my pillowcase?
Because Ultimate A Gold contains Retinal, it has a natural yellow hue. While it absorbs into the skin, we recommend using darker pillowcases or allowing the cream to dry for 10 minutes before bed to prevent any transfer onto light-coloured fabrics.
Do I need to use a separate moisturiser with this kit?
Enlighten Gold serves as your active morning moisturiser, and Ultimate A Gold is a nourishing night cream. For most users, these provide ample hydration. If you have extremely dry skin, the included Hydraboost serum provides the perfect extra layer of moisture.
