Retinal

Retinal is the number 1 “must have ingredient” in any skin care regime. “Rewinds the clock on skin aging” and results in increased skin elasticity and reduces wrinkles, fine lines and pigmentation. Also effective in managing acne.

Niacinamide

Manages Acne, Rosacea and eczema, reduces pigmentation and improves skin barrier function. An Anti-Oxidant, assists in repair of cell DNA, improves skin barrier function and manages the skin’s natural oil production increases skin elasticity and reduces pigmentation.

4-n-butylresorcinol

Reduces hyperpigmentation, for a lighter more even skin tone. Effectively targets hyperpigmentation and age spots. 4-n-butylresorcinol is a non-cytotoxic highly effective tyrosinase inhibitor making it both effective, non-irritating and safe for continuous long-term use.

Ceramides

The emerging evidence suggests that smaller ceramides can improve the skin barrier function which helps with skin hydration and decreasing skin inflammation.

Hyaluronic Acid

The optimum Hyaluronic Acid (HA) to have in skincare is still a matter of debate. However, there is some emerging evidence for medium-size HA to be absorbed by the skin and promoting wound healing and skin regeneration.

Lactobionic Acid

Lactobionic Acid is a Poly Hydroxy Acid (PHA) known for its ability to exfoliate, hydrate, and calm the skin. Unlike traditional Alpha Hydroxy Acids, PHAs like Lactobionic Acid are much gentler on the skin while still providing similar resurfacing benefits.

EXPECTATIONS, THE GOOD THINGS:

Most clinical trials run 8-12 weeks, but real-world results often start sooner:

Smoother skin: Exfoliation results in 5-7 days
Wrinkles & fine lines reduction: Usually visible in 3-4 weeks
Even skin tone: Pigmentation varies - surface issues (4-6 weeks), deeper pigmentation (2-3 months), dermal pigmentation (6-12 months, may not respond to topicals)

THE OTHER THINGS:

When introducing skin cell turnover ingredients (Vitamin A and PHAs), some may experience temporary dryness or a few pimples in the first month, lasting no more than a week. If you experience more or longer-lasting effects, contact our customer care team - we’re here to help you achieve your best skin.

Apply 1 – 2 pumps to the fingertips and apply to the face after cleansing as the final step in your night-time routine night. Also, for use on décolletage, back of hands and forearms.

Do not use if pregnant trying to conceive.

How to use this

Brighten Your Skin

Ultimate A Gold
A revolutionary night cream featuring Vitamin A (Retinal – 0.1% - much more effective than Retinol, but without the irritation), Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide – 5%), gentle PHA (Lactobionic Acid – 5%), advanced pigmentation corrector (4-n-Butylresorcinol – 0.1%), Hyaluronic Acid (1.6%), and Ceramides (0.06%).

Vitamin A is the ingredient with the strongest anti-aging evidence and Retinal is the most effective and least irritating form of Vitamin A. It promotes collagen growth and increases skin elasticity. Combined with barrier-repairing niacinamide and gentle Lactobionic Acid, this formula delivers superior results while being exceptionally well-tolerated. The addition of 4-n-Butylresorcinol targets pigmentation and age spots. Suitable for all skin types, including sensitive, reactive, and acne-prone skin. The ultimate night cream that leaves no one behind!

Frequently Asked Questions

Ultimate A Gold is our Vitamin A night cream designed to target aging, dullness and pigmentation while improving skin texture and tone.

If using Ultimate A+ for acne and it is well tolerated, then no. If using Ultimate A+ for aging and hyperpigmentation then yes (you are getting more bang for your buck).

If using Ultimate A: for aging and or hyperpigmentation and your skin is not sensitive, then yes. If you have very sensitive skin, patch test a sample first. There is a small increased risk of sensitivity from Ultimate A Gold vs. Ultimate A. If you are unlucky and are one of those few who is sensitive to Ultimate A Gold, then Ultimate A is suggested.

Only in the evening! Apply after serums (Gentle Glow or Smooth Serum) or after cleansing if not using serums.

Retinal (Retinaldehyde) is the more effective form of Vitamin A. It works faster than Retinol, and all without the irritation! Retinal has fewer steps to convert into the active form of Vitamin A in the skin.

While Ultimate A Gold has 5% PHA (Lactobionic Acid), Gentle Glow has 10% (5% Lactobionic Acid and 5% Gluconolactone). The best evidence for PHA’s is at 10% concentration. So while Ultimate A gold has 5%, I would suggest that better results are available still continuing to use it.

What is rosacea?

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition which can flare up occasionally and affects primarily the face (but also the neck, chest, eyes and scalp) with one or a number of the following symptoms: Skin Flushing, little pimples (but not white or black heads), skin inflammation and sensitivity. It affects up to a fifth of the population. And while it can happen at any age, it is most common in fair skinned women over the age of 30.

What causes rosacea?

We don’t fully understand Rosacea and what causes it. But your genes have something to do with it and it happens more in fair-skinned people. People with Rosacea also have higher levels of the Demodex mites in their skin (and using medication to target the mites can make Rosacea better).Higher levels of inflammatory peptides (serine proteases- which are often seen in people with conditions which damage the skin barrier) are also present in Rosacea prone skin. And finally, Rosacea has a link to a number of gut problems and the microbiota seen in these conditions.

How to treat rosacea?

While there is no cure for Rosacea, there are a number of factors which will help control it. The most important is identifying and avoiding your triggers (common triggers are UV exposure, heat, cold windy environment and spicy foods and some cosmetic ingredients). It is often underdiagnosed, so to know whether you have it, a visit to the Dermatologist may be needed. There are a number of prescription medications which may be able to help. And laser therapy is sometimes used for redness and the little blood that can become visible. Skincare can also help - that includes once a day use of a non-foaming cleanser as well as use of: of a broad-spectrum sunscreen (preferably Zinc based); a moisturiser and active ingredients including Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) and Retinal (Vitamin A) and use of a green-toned makeup to conceal facial redness.

How to get rid of rosacea?

Unfortunately there is no cure for Rosacea, just management (see “How to treat Rosacea”)

Does sunscreen help rosacea?

Sunscreen is always recommended. Sunscreen reduces the risk of skin cancer and also reducing the impact of the sun prematurely aging our skin. But for sufferers of Rosacea, UV exposure is one of the most common triggers, and using sunscreen can help reduce the risk of your Rosacea being triggered.

Does makeup make rosacea worse?

Makeup doesn’t necessarily make Rosacea worse and green tinted makeup is often used to conceal Rosacea. But some cosmetic ingredients are often to blame for Rosacea flare ups. Common makeup ingredients which can cause a flare are: Perfumes, Toners, some preservatives and alpha hydroxy acids. But it can vary by individual. So guess and check may be your best bet.
