"So i’ve been using ESK for about 6 weeks now and i’m super happy with the results. Photo (no filter on either) on the left is before incase it’s not obvious. Anti-aging skincare for normal skin
Chronological aging, also known as intrinsic aging, is inevitable with the passage of time, but there are genetic differences between individuals. As you get older, the repair processes don’t work as well, so the skin becomes thinner, stiffer, and less supple, with less collagen and elastin, which in turn makes it more prone to injuries, wrinkles, lines and sagging. Aging skin has fewer blood vessels that bring nutrients into the skin and contains fewer lipids and is more susceptible to transepidermal water loss. This leads to dry and often itchy skin. Studies have shown signs of intrinsic aging in your skin from as young as your early 30s - although they won’t become obvious for years after that!
Photoaging (sun damage) is the biggest cause of extrinsic (or environmental) skin aging. Sun damage causes skin cancer - 90 % of all skin cancers are directly caused by sun exposure, mainly due to UVB rays. The sun’s UV rays cause most skin aging (wrinkles, pigmentation, dull skin etc.), and most is due to UVA rays. These UVA rays penetrate deeply into the skin and can pass through glass. They create harmful free radicals that breakdown collagen and prevent collagen being repaired. The UV radiation causes inflammation, damages the skins DNA and causes a build-up of pigmentation. Pollution, a poor diet, insufficient sleep, soap, and smoking can all cause similar skin damage. Studies have shown signs of photoaging in skin as young as 15!
With sun damage starting in your teens and just the passage of time taking its toll on skin as young as 30, you could argue good skincare is a must, even when your skin looks perfect! Using a soap free cleanser, a broad-spectrum sunscreen protecting you against UVA and UVB rays as well as ingredients shown to prevent sun damage such as L-Ascorbic Acid can all help.
